Stockholm Tango Festival 2007 (27-31 Dec)

For the eighth consecutive year, the Swedish-Argentine Tango Society is organising its annual Stockholm Tango Festival.

The Festival starts on the 27 December and ends on 31 December with a brilliant New Year’s Party in PARKEN III, Södermalm!!. Five days packed with workshops, dancing and, above all, lots of opportunities to meet friends.

We are proud and delighted to present a programme incorporating some of the most experienced and internationally famous teachers of tango:

• Diego Di Falco & Carolina Zokalski

Diego and Carolina have achieved a place of prominence as one of the most critically acclaimed couples in the world of Argentine Tango. DIEGO DI FALCO started dancing at the age of four. This naturally gifted man was guided from a very early age by the great Tango Masters: Antonio Todaro, Pupi Castello, Miguel Balmaceda, Pepito Avellandeda and Juan Carlos Copes. Under their tutelage, and with his unique creativity, sensitivity, and tremendous dedication, Diego has become world famous as a master dancer, choreographer, and instructor of tango. CAROLINA ZOKALSKI has a background in Spanish dance and Argentine Folklore. As a young girl, she received a scholarship from Juan Carlos Copes to perform with other young artists. She was also featured with Robert Duval in The National Geographic Society documentary TANGO! In 1991 she was invited to join the National Folkloric Ballet of Argentina and her tango career started soon after she met Diego in 1990. Carolina's artistry, elegance and grace has earned her international fame as a performer and instructor of the tango.

• Jorge Torres & Carolina Jaurena

JORGE TORRES is a world-renowned Tango Choreographer, Dancer, and Impresario of dance productions. He is amazing to behold on the dance floor, as he dances with a quiet and smooth style. His refined talents and style place him between those outstanding choreographers and dancers of Argentine Tango. Before graduating as a teacher of dances, Jorge began his career in the Theater Colon.He has study with famous dancers and teacher of Argentine Tango such as Norberto Guichanduc, Rodolfo Dinzel, Pepito Avellaneda and Antonio Todaro. He currently splits his time between teaching in New York and performing in Forever Tango worldwide. CAROLINA JAURENA is regarded as one of the worlds top tango dancers, choreographers, teachers and performers. She has performed throughout the United States and the world. Influenced by her parents, Carolina was bound at an early age to follow a desire to perform. Under the guidance of some of the most recognized names in dance she has specialized in Argentine Tango along with her formal training in ballet, Latin Ballroom, Salsa and Flamenco. The height of her professional career is marked by her role as a primary dancer in the feature film Random Hearts directed by Sidney Pollack.

• Juan Capriotti & Graciana Romeo

Juan Capriotti & Graciana Romeo with a very strong professional training, in music and classical dances are the reference couple of Rosário - Argentina. With excellent teaching capacity they aim the energy, the balance and the dynamic movements between the couple. Juan and Graciana, propose an integral work of the person where movement and feeling is transformed into a single thing: TANGO. The work begins with "Propedéutica of the Dance" for the initiation to the tango, the method is based on the infantile games and the observation of how the daily movements were developed. It means to coordinate the movements for a better development and understanding of the motor capacity. The result would be a body with possibilities, which means not to train it like an object of being able, but of feeling it truly free.

Like last year, the Festival venue in the DAYTIME is Dieselverkstaden, the more than 150 year-old Atlas Copco industrial building which has been refurbished into a beautiful centre for cultural events, with an adjoining restaurant.

All dancers are welcome to participate in workshops and parties during the Festival. The basic package includes lessons in tango, milonga and vals cruzado. Levels range from elementary to Master Class. For details, please see the Tango Norte calendar.

A beginners’ course will also be held by Jan Fredriksson & Marta Eek.

Tango parties are scheduled for five evenings, with divine dance performances by our guest couples of international renown.

Efterlyser min skopåsen med en Sko i! Du som var på Brunnsgatan ikväll(4 Nov.). Kolla i din väska om du råkat stoppa ner min svart skopåsen(Artesanal BsAs) med högersko i. Skopåsen hängde på stolen nära kassanbordet. Snälla! Kolla om du fått med dig dem, även om du inte tror det. Om du hittar min sko och påsen, ring mig på 08-50 22 80 55, eller 0705-37 66 62. Kvarglömt: På Brunnsgatan finns ett par svarta tyg-dansskor ca storlek 40, samt en tunn färgglad topp, tror jag det kallas. I söndags glömdes dessutom ett par svarta moccaskor med 5 cm klack ca storlek 40. De står i kapprummet.

Våning i Buenos Aires uthyrs, 2 rum med balkong och terras i stans trevligaste område, Las Canitas, med massor av restauranger, i närheten av både tunnelbanna och bussar. Ring: 073 643 62 58, Miriam.

Ett par svarta damskor med klack som kvarglömdes efter praktikan i Alvik i kväll, ligger nu i föreningens skåp.
