It is now a scarce four weeks until Tango 59° Stockholm City International Tango Festival commences. Since classes and workshops rapidly are filling up, we would like to take the opportunity to inform you of what still can be booked.

EVENING MILONGA PASSES

There remains only a very small number of evening milonga passes (about 12 of them). If you want to take advantage of the substantial savings the Evening Milonga Pass offers, then we urge you to book immediately.

We will not issue any Evening Milonga Passes beyond the original 150. The remaining tickets will be sold at the door of each milonga.

CLASS PACKAGES

Almost all packages are sold out. However, there are still a few places left on:

  • Package G with Gunilla Rydén and Henrik Uldall. The difficulty is Level 3, suitable for experienced dancers who have danced for at least 2-3 years or longer and honestly consider themselves proficient at tango.
  • Package E with Vincent Morelle and Maryline Lefor. However, this is a Level 5 package, where the level of difficulty will be extreme.
  • There is still room on the Beginner's Classes: no prior experience needed!

WORKSHOPS

Quite a few of the workshops are already full. We would like to recommend a few workshops which still have a few places open:

Level 2 (dancers of some experience)

  • W2: Vals (Rydén/Uldall) On how to achieve the special character of the Argentine waltz: flow, movement and rhythmisation to create the wonderful vals cruzado.
  • W8: Social Ganchos (Morelle/Lefor) If you're going to do ganchos or hooks, then do them well. This is an excellent opportunity to get a solid understanding of how the gancho works, so that you can do them socially and fluidly without injuring someone!
  • W15: The Giro and its Lineal and Circular Structure (Arce/Montes) Don't miss this one – you might think you know all about the giro, but this workshop will give you a far greater and deeper understanding of this important and complex tango component.
  • W1: Improvisational Skills (Arce/Montes) The freedom in tango can be daunting, until you understand how to improvise. This workshop reveals some of the secrets which can be used to create a dance which allows you to express yourself together with your partner.

Level 3 (proficient dancers)

  • W3: Possibilities with Speed (Bouscase/LeCocq) Acceleration, slow motion, pausation: walking is not about steps. On how to vary your speed and energy to enrich and create variation in your dance, from the very slow to the lightning-fast.
  • W11: Colgadas in Close Embrace (Rydén/Uldall) The colgada has become very popular in later years, but it is not new, neither is it a showy stage step. It has been used for many decades in close social style, where it brings new and subtle colours to your dance.
  • W22: Technique for Boleos (Morelle/Lefor) A perfect opportunity to get the technique for boleos just right. We will be working with many different kinds of boleos for the social dance floor.
  • W25: Small but Big (Rydén/Uldall) Things are not always what they seem. The microscopic may give rise to something revolutionary. Subtle is not simple: this is a workshop on techniques for those who are ready to take their dance to the next level.

Level 4 (very advanced dancers)

  • W17: Advanced Rhythm (Rydén/Uldall) Rhythm is a set of Chinese Boxes: solve one mystery, and there is another challenge inside. It's a never-ending journey of discovery. Learn how to work with syncopation, the off-beat and a truly musical rhythmical lead.

All levels

  • W16: Minimal leading (Morelle/Lefor) How to lead and follow effortlessly, with precision, pleasure and smooth flow. How to make the most of the energy you have to create things small - and large – with minimal effort. Secrets of the trade.
